Seen in a wide variety of polished brass and glass cases, the KUNDO battery clocks were licensed by ATO. These models, some with eight jewel movements for mechanical efficiency, were made into the late 1960s. They were based on Leon Hatot's invention of the patented transistor switch, which eliminated the often troublesome electrical contacts which had been used to switch current to the solinoid. Except for the transistor switching, the principle is the same one used in the earlier ATO clocks. However, the efficiency and carefree design of the transistorized movement could be adapted to many different and attractive table and mantel style clocks. KUNDO clocks will run for more than a year on a single 1.5 volt dry cell battery. Hatot was
in his 70th year of age when the transistor switching patent was issued
to him. |
