Two large #6 dry cells provide months of service for the Rempe clock. They were offered in a variety of mantel clock styles. The Rempe Manufacturing Company existed from 1903 until 1906. The inventor, Henry Rempe, was a Danville Jeweler. His invention claimed a "self-cleaning" electrical contact. Most battery clocks of the period failed due to pitted, soiled and worn electrical contacts.
