Said
to have been marketed mostly as a premium for selling newspaper
subscriptions door-to-door, these clocks were powered by two large
dry cell batteries. The simple balance wheel movement has a short
mainspring which is rewound periodically by an electromagnet. The
appearance of the rewinding mechanism is similar to many European
designs of the era. The clocks were produced by the Trinity Toy
and Novelty Company around 1908.
