Cast brass movement plates began to replace the wooden frame movement beginning about 1860 although the wood frame continued to be made to the end of the century.

This example incorporates an unusually odd and rare form of a "Bahnhausle" shape in the movement plates.

A more commonly found figure cast into the movement plates is the lyre figure. Cast brass movement plates were gradually phased out of Black Forest clock production in favor of rolled sheet brass plates stamped out using the punch press.
